Has anyone seen my last marble??????

Well this fortnight certainly had me researching people who's photographs I like. Anne Geddes came to mind but I have no one who has a new born for me to play with (and no that is not a hint that I want to hear the sounds of "Grandma" just yet), Tim Wallace whom I love his car photography was the next choice until the weather well and truly let me down, Trey Ratcliff was being pondered upon for his HDR which although is over the top he takes some amazing shots even if you took away the HDR post processing. Nick came up with another photographer Carl Glover whom I liked from his work on Marillion's artwork, however a lot of his work is either very street, rough, dirty or digital art. With the weather being as miserable as it has been and having had a very hectic two weeks at work I decided to do my own take on Mr Glover's marbles concept art for Marillion's marbles album.

Thinking to myself well if I can't do this or get it as right as I want to I can always take still life shots of marbles at least I have a back up plan. I went out on Saturday and took some shots of Ballarat with the intention of using the streets as my backdrops and came home to set up individual marble shots. As you can see the weather was extremely grey and uninteresting. About 2pm I opened up photoshop and took about half an hour to process some other pics into black and white for a very satisfied customer I was still sitting there at 5.30pm cursing over one picture. Patience is a virtue and unfortunately one I do not possess. My drawing pad was indespensible although it is now on my list to upgrade as it is not as sensitive as I would like. However sheer determination and the fact that I was not going to let Nick have the satisfaction of saying 'Mr Glover should give you some lessons' I did manage to finish the picture on Saturday night, before falling exhausted into bed.

Determined to give it another shot I did some research before the gym this morning and after lunch sat down to do photo number 2, good news is this one only took 2 hours but was in fact a bit more involved than the first one.

So without further ado...............

Saturday night

Sunday afternoon

So I am off to give my eyes an hours rest and think about how I am going to get a marble on the bridge of the first photo but behind the fence to allow it to appear real...................... I already have some thoughts (oh dear this could get addictive)
