States of Matter

Nothing like leaving things to the last minute however I made the deadline by Sunday afternoon. I have spent the weekend re-doing my shots after the fantastic effort Mick gave this month I couldn't put up anything other than my best effort. Thanks to Nick's superb craftsmanship I have enjoyed my new macro desk and have sorted out the backdrops today (have glued velcro onto the backdrop and the material in the hopes of the velcro staying put) and found some reasonable priced satin that was wide enough for my purpose. Will be going back next week for some more colours I think.

I am going to research snoots (???? I think thats what they're called) for my flash as after a couple of hours playing with fire last night I finally remembered what I did the first time I tried this and I learnt how to set my flash to 1/8 power through my camera (was rather chuffed about that actually) and am looking forward to playing some more with smoke without my cardboard falling off the flash continuously.

This afternoon has been spent in photoshop the first two pictures were just normal adjustments but the third I had no choice I had to break out the layers book and work them out. Once I worked out the blank background needed to be bigger than the pictures you were bringing into it (maybe not but I kept loosing them) things started to work very nicely and I must admit I am very pleased with the end result.

A LIQUID DROP
My favourite type of liquids (was a very nice local drop with lots of blackberry flavour - my favourite)

FORGED IN FIRE
Well not sure if crystal can be classed as that but I suppose I could pretend it is glass, and I have to pay credit to my fire handler for the help on this one

THE SMOKING GUN
I was originally looking at the gas hotplates for gas however playing with smoke a couple of weeks ago I got hooked and it meant I had to learn some new techniques and how to use my speed-light
