Bells, Books & Candles

So my trusted new Samsung & I set out to join in the fun with the pro's, a David and Goliath of the photography world. This would also be the first month where I didn't know what was coming in terms of a topic, having spent two years suggesting things for others I always had plans of what I would do with the topics I set, but now I was as in the dark as the Akubra & The Beret.

Bells

Being stuck In Melbourne last weekend, a quick Google search found a new addition to the city. The Federation Bells have been in use now for about 3 months, a collection of 40 bells which have been programed to play music for 120 seconds on a constant cycle. We sat for about an hour listening to the different pieces that people had created on the website.

Books

Of the three, this one gave me the most problem. Having toyed with some ideas of books on a shelf which just didn't spark my imagination I decided to go back to Childhood, after endless hunting for a pop up book I found this. Although I like the idea, the execution doesn't hit the spot. More practice with lighting indoor still life projects I think.

Candles

My personal favourite of the three, our Christmas candles came in useful with the coloured glass giving some good variety. Had to pinch her highness's tripod for this as I wanted to shoot in the dark, which I have now learnt takes long shutter speeds and lots of handshake effect without the support of the monopod.

So that's me for the first time, I must say having to think from scratch forced me into some obvious choices which I later scrapped, I now see why I sometimes got 'The Look' from Karen when I set a topic which obviously didn't launch her imagination straight away.
