Maybe that's one for the future for me, but I present, somewhat late im afraid, my four shots within 5km of our house (well almost 5km anyway)
One of the many churches in Ballarat, this was a stumble upon photo taken for a test of camera settings which just happened to work well, a case of right place at the right time.
Much of our cities history is built around gold mining, this shot is actually a model that sits atop a plinth on the main street through Ballarat, a lot of playing with sunflare filters and contrast, but I was happy with the end results.
This photo has perhaps the most meaning to me, it sums up the attitude of so many that live in Ballarat. Always celebrating the past, reminding everyone how good things were "back in the day". I have seen much change over the last 10 years, some good and some not so good, but I honestly feel if people looked more to the future than the past then perhaps the next ten years would see more good than bad.
Water constantly forms a part of life in Ballarat, either too much with storm drains flooding out shop basements or too little. Lake Wendouree was empty for years after I moved here, it's nice to see it full even if it has cost a small fortune to achieve that.
So that's 5km around my home, not the best photos I have taken, but as said, life has been foot to the floor for the last 8 weeks. Im now looking forward to playing with puddles and night photography, mirrors and back lights.
